People travelling on Isle of Man ferry services provided by the Steam Packet Company this summer will benefit from lower fares.
The operator announced that, as of June 1st, it was reducing its fuel surcharge on new bookings from £5 to £3.50 per passenger on single ferry crossings.
Future surcharge reviews will be carried out every three months and will reflect changes in the prices of both gas oil and heavy fuel oil.
Mark Woodward, chief executive of the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company, said the latest reduction had been implemented in accordance with a new agreement with the Department of Transport.
He added: "This new agreement is good news for both the Steam Packet Company and the Isle of Man and has resulted in a substantial fall in the surcharge for passengers and a further reduction in the rate for freight."
The Steam Packet Company is the primary provider of Isle of Man ferry services.
Travellers can catch ferries to Dublin, Belfast, Liverpool and Heysham from the operator's home port of Douglas.
