GLD Atlantique, a joint venture between LD Lines' parent company Louis Dreyfus Armateurs and its Italian partner Grimaldi Lines, has been added to the extensive range of ferry operators available through aferry.co.uk.
The company will operate the first ever "motorway of the sea" between France and Spain, linking the port of
Saint-Nazaire in Nantes, western France with
Gijon in the northern Spanish region of Asturias.
It was recently confirmed that the official inauguration and launch of the brand new route will take place in September.
Travellers catching
ferries from Saint-Nazaire to Gijon with GLD Atlantique will be carried on the Sorrento, a roll-on/roll-off passenger ship with the capacity to hold up to 450 passengers and 150 cars.
Onboard facilities include a restaurant, a cafe and two bars, as well as 93 well-equipped rooms and 64 reclining seats.
The operator will provide up to three weekly ferry crossings in both directions, with an average sailing time of around 14 hours.
Both
P&O and
Brittany Ferries also provide links to northern Spain, offering regular ferries to Bilbao and Santander respectively from Portsmouth.
