People planning a Balearic Islands ferry break this year might be interested in trying out some of the outdoor activities on offer in the region.
The tourist board representing the archipelago released a list of reasons to visit the islands, which highlighted pursuits such as cycling, diving and golf.
Both Mallorca and Ibiza boast an extensive network of cycling routes that take holidaymakers through areas of beautiful rural scenery.
Balearia is one of the leading providers of ferry services to the islands, offering regular crossings from Barcelona to Alcudia on the north coast as well as ferries to Palma from Barcelona, Denia and Valencia.
Travellers also have the option of taking ferries to Ibiza from Barcelona or Valencia with
Acciona Trasmediterranea.
Holidaymakers who would like to try diving will find plenty of worthwhile locations in the Balearics, such as the coastline of Ibiza, which was declared a Unesco World Heritage site in 1999.
Golf enthusiasts can choose from more than 30 courses in Mallorca alone, while those looking for culture and heritage will find plenty of museums, galleries and landmarks on the Mediterranean islands.
People setting off from the UK can start their Spanish adventure by taking
ferries from Portsmouth to Santander with
Brittany Ferries, while
P&O will sail from Portsmouth to Bilbao until the end of September.
