Giant's Causeway is the most popular attraction in Northern Ireland
Holidaymakers are continuing to ferry across to Belfast to enjoy the magnificent Giant's Causeway, it has been revealed.

New figures show that the stunning beauty spot was the most popular place for tourists to visit in Northern Ireland last year.

According to the Belfast Telegraph, the Northern Ireland Tourist Board recorded 712,714 visitors to the site – up 29 per cent on 2006.

It was one of a number of attractions in the country which experienced a rise in visitor numbers.

Speaking to the newspaper, the board's chief executive Alan Clarke said: "It's great news that the majority of attractions in Northern Ireland experienced an increase in visits during 2007.

"This increase reflects the success of Northern Ireland’s tourism industry as a whole, with over 2.1 million visitors last year, the highest figures on record."

"We look forward to welcoming even more visitors to Northern Ireland and will strive to provide the best possible visitor experience."
