Have some floral fun in France | | | | 25 September 2008 | People with a passion for all things floral can catch a Dover to Calais ferry next month to visit Les Floralies du Nord.
This five-day celebration of flowers, which is the largest event of its kind in France's Nord department, will take place at Gayant Expo in the town of Douai.
The highlights of the event will be the floral exhibitions, with florists showing off their best plants and council gardeners exhibiting designs to try to win the show competition.
Several workshops will also be arranged for people hoping to learn more about flower arrangement.
Douai, which is within driving distance of the ports of Calais and Dunkerque, boasts attractions including a Gothic-style belfry that has a history dating back to the 14th century.
Two major operators, P&O Ferries and SeaFrance, offer ferry crossings from Dover to Calais, while Norfolkline sails from Dover to Dunkerque. |
