People with an interest in all things maritime can arrange an Isle of Wight ferry break this year to attend some special events on the island.
From June 4th to 6th, the port town of Yarmouth will play host to the 14th Old Gaffers Festival, an event that showcases around 100 gaff-rigged vessels, all of which are decorated in vibrant colours.
As well as seeing the impressive collection of ships in the harbour, visitors can enjoy live music concerts, browse through continental markets in the square and explore the 'big boy's toys field', which will feature classic vehicles, among other attractions.
Travellers coming from mainland Britain can take ferries to Yarmouth from Lymington with
Wightlink.
Holidaymakers planning to visit the Isle of Wight in June might also have the opportunity to see the JP Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Yacht Race in Cowes.
Due to take place on June 19th, the contest - billed as "sailing's answer to the London Marathon" - will see 1,600 boats race past the Needles, around St Catherine's Point and Bembridge Ledge and back to the Solent.
Sailing enthusiasts can take ferries to Fishbourne or Ryde from Portsmouth with Wightlink and make sure they get a good spot to watch the impressive event.
