Travellers planning Dublin ferry trips this year could see their budgets stretch further than they expect, with a new report describing the Irish capital as a "definite contender for a bargain break".
The Post Office carried out a study which found that Dublin is one of the cheapest cities in the eurozone for a spring getaway.
Ireland's capital was the most affordable European destination surveyed for cultural attractions, with visitors offered free entry to the National Museum of Ireland, the National Gallery of Ireland and other institutes.
People planning to visit the destination can take ferries to Dublin from Holyhead with
Stena Line or
Irish Ferries.
Sarah Munro, head of travel money at the Post Office, said: "UK holidaymakers planning a city break this spring should do their homework very carefully.
"We found big price differences between cities and in cash-strapped times tourists can make their pounds stretch further by picking one of Europe's cheaper capitals."
The report also revealed that accommodation prices have fallen in Dublin recently.
P&O Ferries and
Norfolkline Irish Sea also provide access to the city via the Liverpool to Dublin ferry route.
