Music fans might be interested in booking
ferries to France this summer to combine a holiday with some live entertainment.
The Radio France and Montpellier Festival will take place in the Languedoc-Roussillon region in the south-west from July 12th to 30th.
Travellers can reach this part of the country by taking
ferries from Portsmouth to St Malo, Caen or Cherbourg with
Brittany Ferries and driving south.
Brittany Ferries also offers a Plymouth to Roscoff ferry service.
The festival will feature around 180 musical events designed to cater for all tastes, with highlights this year including a performance of Bernard Herrmann's operatic adaptation of Wuthering Heights.
Visitors will also be able to attend concerts by the Montpellier and Languedoc-Roussillon Orchestra and jazz groups such as the Samuel Silvant Trio and the Belmondo Quintet.
Contemporary music will be represented by dance music acts and DJs including Laurent Garnier, LTJ Bukem and Carl Craig.
Travellers planning a trip to France can also take
ferries from Portsmouth to Le Havre with
LD Lines, while both
P&O Ferries and
SeaFrance serve the
Dover to Calais ferry route.
