People who enjoy holidays with a relaxed, traditional feel might be interested in taking a ferry to Guernsey this year, which reportedly offers a range of experiences to meet these interests.
VisitGuernsey commissioned a YouGov poll which found that just over four in five people (81 per cent) appreciate being able to explore destinations at their own pace.
People who choose to visit the Channel Island this year can travel on one of
Condor Ferries' Guernsey ferry routes, which operate from Portsmouth, Poole and Weymouth.
Three-quarters (75 per cent) of respondents to the poll said they considered a "relaxed, traditional atmosphere" an appealing aspect of a holiday.
The survey also showed the continuing popularity of traditional leisure activities such as cycling and countryside walking, with 75 per cent of people saying they would be likely to include these pursuits in their break.
Chris Elliott, Guernsey's director of marketing and tourism, said the research highlighted "significant demand" for what have been termed "breaks with tradition".
He added: "A traditional break offers a quality experience and a very personal one - it's about holidaymakers connecting with their loved ones through shared enjoyment and fun activities in beautiful surroundings.
"Guernsey does this well and it's a big part of the reason behind our growing visitor numbers."
Condor Ferries also provides access to France via its St Malo ferry links from Guernsey, Jersey, Poole and Weymouth.
