People planning to take ferries to Holland over the coming months will have the opportunity to attend some special events that will ensure their break is a memorable one.
The Netherlands Board of Tourism identified some of the highlights of the country's summer calendar, starting with SAIL 2010, which will be held in Amsterdam from August 19th to 23rd.
Taking place once every five years, the event features a range of nautical displays including tall ships, high-tech vessels and various other craft, which will feature in a parade set to depart from the port of IJmuiden on August 19th.

ferries from Newcastle to Amsterdam, which set off from the English port at 17:00 every day.
Rotterdam will also host some major events this year, including the North Sea Jazz Festival, which will run from July 9th to 11th, and the Ortel Summer Carnival on July 30th and 31st.
Scheveningen in The Hague will host pyrotechnic displays on Friday nights in July and August, which will build up to the International Fireworks Festival from August 19th to 21st.
