Travellers based in Ireland might be interested in arranging ferry crossings to visit some of the pubs that have been ranked among the best in Britain.
The Campaign for Real Ale (Camra) released a list of Britain's top 16 pubs based on a range of factors, from the quality of the beer and cider on offer to atmosphere and decor.
One establishment that comes recommended from the organisation is the Albert Tavern in the village of Freuchie in Fife, which was described as a "friendly village local" serving a changing selection of guest beers.
People based in Northern Ireland can get to Scotland by taking
ferries from Belfast to Stranraer with
Stena Line, while
P&O provides
ferries from Larne to Cairnryan.
Holidaymakers planning a break in Wales can pay a visit to the Ship and Castle in Aberystwyth, which was recommended by Camra following a recent refit that has resulted in a number of new facilities.
Other pubs that have been ranked among the best in Britain include the Knott Bar in Manchester and the Salutation in Berkeley, Gloucestershire.
