Hovertravel this week took one of its craft to Portsmouth Harbour for the first time to promote the speed of its service to the Isle of Wight.
The company's route from Southsea to Ryde is the fastest service available across the Solent, with a duration of just under ten minutes.
People travelling from the Isle of Wight can catch the Hoverbus from just outside the ferry terminal to visit Gunwharf Quays, Hampshire's largest entertainment complex and only major shopping outlet.
The centre has over 95 stores, 30 bars and restaurants, a health and fitness complex, cinema, nightclub and other facilities.
Neil Chapman, managing director of
Hovertravel, said: "The hovercraft has never entered Portsmouth Harbour before so we thought this was a great occasion for a one-off photo opportunity to support our service, which enables customers to travel between Ryde and Gunwharf Quays in well under 20 minutes."
Travellers heading to the Isle of Wight have the option of taking
ferries from Portsmouth to Fishbourne or Ryde with
Wightlink, which also operates
ferries from Lymington to Yarmouth.
