Summer holidaymakers will be able to catch cheaper ferry crossings to France from Ireland this year as
Irish Ferries is cutting fares on services to the continent.
In what is described as "a further response to the current economic climate", the ferry operator is reducing family fares to France for travel during the peak months of June, July and August.
Prices are being slashed by as much as 33 per cent, reportedly offering savings of up to 460 (£422) on some return ferry crossings to France.
Irish Ferries said that the fare reductions are designed to boost interest in traditionally quiet sailings and also "assist families in these difficult times".
The lower prices will be available on bookings made before the end of April.
Irish Ferries operates two ferry crossings to France, one from Rosslare to Cherbourg and the other linking Rosslare to the port of Roscoff in Brittany.
The company also sails from Rosslare to Pembroke and from Dublin to Holyhead.
