People who have or think they may have Irish roots have been encouraged to take a ferry to Dublin next month to attend a special event in the city.
Back to Our Past, Ireland's first national genealogy event, will take place at the Royal Dublin Society in the Ballsbridge area from October 15th to 17th.
Irish Ferries pointed out that visitors will have the opportunity to search census returns, church records and other resources to find out more about their family heritage.
The company provides regular
ferries from Holyhead to Dublin, while
Stena Line operates
ferries from Holyhead to Dun Laoghaire, which is just outside the capital.
Leading genealogy experts will be on hand at Back to Our Past to help members of the public learn more about their lineage.
Irish Ferries has also encouraged travellers to consider a trip to Dublin to do some Christmas shopping this year, with the traditional European market set to return to the Docklands area for the festive season.
People starting their journey from northern England can take
ferries from Liverpool to Dublin with
P&O or
Norfolkline/
DFDS Seaways.
