Irish Ferries is encouraging travellers living in Ireland to take advantage of the favourable exchange rate by paying a visit to Britain to do some Christmas shopping.
The company is offering special fares on its Dublin to Holyhead and Rosslare to Pembroke ferry routes for Irish shoppers planning to spend some of their euros.
According to
Irish Ferries, travelling across the Irish Sea to buy some Christmas gifts in Britain is "an alternative to the annual shopping exodus to New York".
The company added: "Those travelling by ferry can load their car to the roof at no extra cost and free themselves of airport baggage restrictions."
People planning to travel in the other direction can take ferries to Dublin from Holyhead with either
Irish Ferries or
Stena Line to experience the Irish capital's Christmas celebrations.
One of the highlights of the festive season in the city is the 12 Days of Christmas market, which this year will be held at George's Dock from December 12th to 23rd.
Visitors can also take ferries to Dublin from Liverpool with
Norfolkline Irish Sea and P&O Ferries.
