Irish Ferries has reminded holidaymakers of the fact that they do not need to worry about baggage restrictions or charges if they travel by ferry this year.
The company pointed out that budget airline Ryanair recently increased its luggage fees to up to £80 per bag on a return trip.
People who are planning to travel with
Irish Ferries this year were reassured that the operator has no baggage charges on any route for customers with cars or foot passengers.
"If you can carry it, you can bring it for free," said head of passenger sales Declan Mescall.
"And if you can fit it in the boot, on the roof rack or on the back seat of the car you can even bring the kitchen sink at no extra charge."
The company offers
ferries from Holyhead to Dublin and also provides crossings on the Pembroke to Rosslare ferry route.
Alternative options in the region include
Stena Line's
ferries from Fishguard to Rosslare and
Norfolkline's Liverpool to Belfast ferry service.
