Isle of Man Steam Packet Company airs first TV ads
The Isle of Man ferry operator, the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company, is making its TV debut this month, with its first ever TV advertising airing in Northern Ireland and Eire.
The campaign has been created by Access Advertising of Manchester. The ads are narrated by actor James Nesbitt and the campaign is focusing on the Isle as a tourist destination, the ferry as the best way to get there and to enhance awareness about the investment in the new fast craft service operating to Dublin and Belfast.
Access won the business in October 2005 in a pitch including Liverpool's Finch Advertising. The initial business was for above (primarily press) and below the line advertising but the agency has now also been tasked with managing the company's brand development.
Access and the marketing team at the Steam Packet Company worked together on the creative concepts and the choice of Nesbitt and commissioning the re-arrangement of a traditional piece of Manx music.
The ads, produced by the TV Department, feature two 30 second ads accompanied by 10 second cut downs. The campaign is being supported by press and radio, with Nesbitt again voicing the radio commercials.
The media spend is an `undisclosed six figure sum' and is being bought by Mediavest Manchester.
The Steam Packet Company operates ferries from the UK mainland to the Isle of Man and claims to be the longest serving continuously running ferry service in the world.
It celebrated its 175th anniversary in 2005.
