A ceremony has been held on the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company's newest ferry to confirm the name of the vessel.
Figures including the chairman of the Steam Packet Company attended the event to confirm the name of Manannan, which will be an important provider of Isle of Man ferry services during the forthcoming TT motorcycle tournament.
The ferry operator has invested some £80 million in its business in recent years, allowing it to double its number of ferries to Heysham since 1995 and treble the service frequency on its Liverpool ferry route.
Manannan will reduce journey times on the Steam Packet Company's Isle of Man ferry services and also provide passengers with features including an extensive lounge on the top deck.
Robert Quayle, chairman of the company, said: "We want people to enjoy travelling on Manannan and for it to be a vessel of which the Isle of Man can be justifiably proud. This vessel was designed for the 21st century.
"The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company remains a proud Manx institution, here to serve the Isle of Man and its people."
In addition to its Heysham and Liverpool routes, the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company offers ferries to Dublin and Belfast from its home port of Douglas.
