A new guide has been released that could prove interesting for people planning Isle of Wight ferry breaks this year.
The Rough Guide to Dorset, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight was released on Monday (February 1st).
It aims to challenge the perception that these destinations are old-fashioned and are all about "cream teas, thatched cottages and blue rinses".
All three of the counties have recently "upped their game in the cool stakes", according to Rough Guides.
Travellers planning Isle of Wight ferry breaks are offered a number of recommendations in the new publication, including a trip to the Needles, a row of three distinctive chalk formations that rise out of the sea off Alum Bay.
Rough Guides also gives its seal of approval to the Isle of Wight Festival, which will run from June 11th to 13th this year and will feature artists including Jay-Z, the Strokes and Pink.
Holidaymakers can reach the island by taking ferries to Ryde or Fishbourne from Portsmouth with
Wightlink, or travelling on the operator's Lymington to Yarmouth ferry service.
