Isle of Wight prepares for festival influx

Isle of Wight prepares for festival influx
03 September 2008
Bestival will mean that cheap ferries to the Isle of Wight are in demand this weekend
Thousands of people will be hopping on cheap ferries to the Isle of Wight this weekend as the island hosts Bestival.

This award-winning event, which was created by Radio 1 DJ Rob da Bank, will be held at Robin Hill Country Park on the Isle of Wight on September 5th, 6th and 7th.

A number of major artists will be performing on the festival's stages and in its arenas over the weekend, including Amy Winehouse, Pendulum, My Bloody Valentine and the Human League.

There will also be a number of unusual and alternative acts playing, such as Aphex Twin, Coldcut, Roots Manuva and even Chas & Dave.

Bestival will be about more than just music, with the Jestival area of the event set to host comedians including Phil Jupitus, Andrew Maxwell, Marcus Brigstocke and Phil Kay.

People who were able to get tickets for Bestival can catch cheap ferries to the Isle of Wight from Lymington, Portsmouth and Southampton with Red Funnel and Wightlink.
