The Speed Dating Walk, a popular part of the Isle of Wight Walking Festival, has been named as one of the top 'mini-adventures' for ferry travellers to take part in this year.
In a list of the weekend breaks and experiences that people should look out for in 2009, the Times said that the Speed Dating Walk is the "most eagerly awaited event" in the Walking Festival.
Three couples who met at last year's walk are now either married or engaged, according to the newspaper.
Taking place between May 8th and 10th, the walk starts and finishes on the beach at the foot of Shanklin Chine and gives participants plenty of opportunities to socialise and meet new people.
A spokesperson for the Isle of Wight Council events team said: "Even if you don't meet that perfect person there is also the chance to just have a lot of fun with like-minded people."
The Isle of Wight Walking Festival will take place between May 9th and 24th and will include some 300 themed and accompanied walks.
Wightlink is one of the leading providers of ferry services to the Isle of Wight, with crossings available from Portsmouth to Fishbourne or Ryde and another route operating between Lymington and Yarmouth.
