People with an interest in European art can take ferries to Amsterdam over the coming weeks to enjoy a new experience on offer at the Rijksmuseum.
Wim Pijbes, the museum's director, has created a new walking route that takes visitors past 30 Golden Age paintings and offers a fresh perspective on the period.
Due to run until June 13th, the initiative allows guests to see works such as The Little Street by Vermeer and The Sampling Officials by Rembrandt, alongside pieces from the museum's collection that have not been shown for several years.
People planning to visit Holland's capital city this year can take
ferries from Newcastle to Amsterdam with
DFDS Seaways.
Commenting on the project, Mr Pijbes said: "As 'guest curator' of my own museum, I want to know what the personalities of these famous works of art have to say to us today.
"The route results in unexpected and exciting art-historical combinations - a bundle of asparagus by Coorte next to a church interior by Saenredam, for instance. It offers a fresh look, a fresh interpretation."
Another option for travellers heading to The Netherlands this year is
P&O Ferries' Hull to Rotterdam ferry route, while
Stena Line offers
ferries from Harwich to Hook of Holland.
