People travelling on the Portsmouth to Bilbao ferry route operated by P&O Ferries will have some opportunities to see whales in their natural habitat this year.
P&O Ferries announced that it would host whale-watching sessions on four sailings on its route to Spain over the summer.
The special trips will depart from Portsmouth ferry port on July 7th and 10th and on September 17th and 20th.
Scientists from the Biscay Dolphin Research Programme will be onboard, giving presentations on the whales that passengers can see and organising viewing sessions from the best vantage points on the Pride of Bilbao cruise ferry.
During similar trips last year, more than 3,300 marine mammals were spotted, ranging from harbour porpoises and bottlenose dolphins to pilot and beaked whales.
People travelling on P&O Ferries' Portsmouth to Bilbao ferry route can visit a number of attractions once they reach the Spanish city, such as the Guggenheim art gallery and the fishing village of Castro Urdiales.
