LD Lines has announced that it is to cooperate with
TransEuropa Ferries on the Ramsgate to Ostend ferry route.
The companies will begin their commercial agreement between March 15th and 30th, with
LD Lines initially working on the tourist passenger side of the service and
TransEuropa Ferries focusing on freight and ship operations.
TransEuropa will operate
LD Lines' Norman Spirit on a long-term charter basis as part of the deal, with the vessel set to be renamed the Ostend Spirit.
The ship will operate two return crossings on the Ramsgate to Ostend ferry route every day, with a crossing time of four hours.
Christophe Santoni, managing director of
LD Lines, said: "We are very pleased to announce this development, which will combine the considerable expertise of both companies.
"For
LD Lines it will further expand our ferry service network and we can now offer the market an extensive choice of routes from the west to east across the English Channel to France, and now to a northern located port in Belgium."
The company also operates ferries to Le Havre from Portsmouth, along with a Dover to Boulogne ferry service.
