LD Lines has announced plans to begin a new
Dover to Boulogne ferry service next year.
The ferry company already operates four services on the route and intends to add a fifth to its current capacity in early 2010.
In addition, the firm announced that its Norman Arrow service has generated a good response and, as a result, the company will be discontinuing its conventional Cote d'Albatre ferry.
This is because the Cote d'Albatre stern ramp does not fit properly into the linkspan, which reduces passenger capacity.
Christophe Santoni, managing director of
LD Lines, said: "We are very encouraged by the early response to the new Norman Arrow service, which is clearly demonstrating an ever-increasing demand from tourist and freight customers preferring to cross the channel in just one hour.
"It was never our long-term intention to maintain a combined high speed ferry and conventional ferry service choice on the route."
