People embarking on ski holidays in France are looking to Alpine resorts that are "off the beaten track" in order to save money.
This is according to the Ski Club of Great Britain's Vanessa Fisher, who said that this trend has emerged because prices have generally gone up this winter.
"We're finding that resorts which are further down the valley like Sainte-Foy...which is down the valley from Val d'Isere [are popular]," she explained.
"It has still got access to skiing and those are the types of resorts that skiers will be looking for."
With winter travellers looking to save money on their cheap skiing holiday, a cross-channel ferry may be the preferred way of journeying to their Alpine resort.
Not only is it cheaper than flying, but taking a
Dover to Calais ferry offers skiers more flexibility in terms of carrying their own equipment.
According to the ski club, 1.27 million people are involved in the UK snowsports market, with France continuing to dominate with its 43 per cent share.
