London shoppers could be encouraged to take
ferries to France for a holiday this year as a result of a promotional exhibition opening in the city next month.
The tourist board representing the Vendee region of western France will present a display at the Westfield shopping centre in London's W12 district from May 5th to 8th.
Visitors will see a 77-square-metre stand inviting them to play games and take a virtual tour of the Vendee through a selection of images and videos.
People who decide to visit the destination on France's Atlantic coast this year have a number of travel options, including
ferries from Portsmouth to St Malo operated by
Brittany Ferries, which also provides a service from Plymouth to Roscoff.
In 2009, more than 25 per cent of the Vendee's foreign visitors came from Britain - more than any other foreign country.
Those who visit the promotional exhibition in London will be able to sample some of the produce on offer in the region, including brioche, oysters and local wines.
Other services on offer to holidaymakers heading to northern France this year include
LD Lines'
ferries from Portsmouth to Le Havre and
Irish Ferries' crossings from Rosslare to Cherbourg and Roscoff.
