New Isle of Man Steam Packet vessel arrives for TT Race
The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company's latest addition - the Manannan, arrived in the port of Douglas on May 11. It had been due to arrive on Saturday May 9 from Portsmouth where it had undergone a £20 million refit, but was delayed because of bad weather over the weekend.
The extensive work has included the construction of completely new accommodation and a larger sky lounge on the top deck, both of which have contributed to the vessel's increased seating capacity of more than 800 passengers.
The Manannan fastcraft vessel is the largest vessel of her type in the Iish Sea and will enter service on May 22 in time for the annual Isle of Man TT race. Bookings for this year's TT race remain up on last years and with Manannan's extra capacity, Steam Packet will be able to accommodate extra last minute bookings for race day on May 30.
