The announcement that LD Lines will launch a revolutionary new ship on its Dover to Boulogne ferry service has been welcomed by the president of the French city's Chamber of Commerce.
LD Lines confirmed this week that a new catamaran vessel, which will be the largest fast ferry to operate a cross channel ferry service, will be deployed on the Dover to Boulogne route on May 29th.
Francis Leroy, president of the Boulogne-sur-Mer Chamber of Commerce, said the development will boost the French port's status as a ferry travel hub.
"By creating the new hub port terminal, the commercial port of Boulogne is positioning itself strongly within the ferry transport market," he said.
"For the port of Boulogne this new service is a new step in the development of rapid links."
The launch of the new ship will allow LD Lines to offer six Dover to Boulogne ferry crossings every day, extending a network that also includes services from Portsmouth to Le Havre and Dover to Dieppe.
