Wight Light, the first of a new class of ships belonging to Wightlink that will operate ferry crossings between Lymington and Yarmouth, recently arrived in the UK to take part in sea trials.
The vessel reached the Solent after a 17-day voyage from Croatia that included a port call in Gibraltar.
Wight Light was greeted by a crowd of Wightlink staff, family and friends who had gathered to witness its arrival.
The ferry is the first new ship to be built for the Lymington to Yarmouth crossing since 1973.
A period of crew familiarisation will take place before Wight Light begins its final series of sea trials, ready to begin carrying passengers on ferry crossings some time in the autumn.
Sister ship Wight Sky is also set to make a journey from Croatia's Kraljevica shipyard to the Isle of Wight this week, calling at Palermo, Gibraltar and Vigo along the way.
In addition to its service between Lymington and Yarmouth, Wightlink offers cheap ferries from Portsmouth to Fishbourne and Ryde.
