New driving guides could help out ferry travellers

People catching ferries to France, Spain and other European countries for a holiday this year might be interested in a new set of driving guides from DK Eyewitness Travel.

The company announced that the Back Roads series will be released on March 22nd.

Separate publications in the collection will focus on France, Spain, Italy, Great Britain and Ireland, offering a range of useful information and advice relating to each country.

DK Eyewitness Travel said that exploring a destination's back roads and byways allows holidaymakers to "slow down and savour the very essence of a place, experiencing breathtaking scenery, historical treasures, local hospitality and regional cuisine along the way".

People planning to use one of the guides during a France ferry holiday will be able to find out about some of the country's most spectacular driving routes, including an itinerary that takes in the mountain passes of the Pyrenees.

Each book will include a fold-out map and information on local laws, driving conditions and other important topics.

Holidaymakers planning to visit France this year can use the Dover to Calais ferry route, which is served by P&O Ferries and Seafrance, or take the ferry to Le Havre from Portsmouth with LD Lines.

Brittany Ferries provides access to Spain with its Santander ferry links from Portsmouth and Plymouth.
