Brittany Ferries has announced that it set a new industry record last week on its Portsmouth to Santander ferry crossing.
The operator's flagship Pont Aven arrived in Santander in northern Spain at 11:35 local time on March 19th, having made the 690-mile voyage from Portsmouth in 23 hours 15 minutes.
Representing a record time for a commercial passenger ferry on this route, the journey is reportedly ten hours shorter than the Portsmouth to Bilbao ferry crossing provided by P&O Ferries.
Brittany Ferries now offers travellers the option to reach the Iberian peninsula with their own car after only one night at sea.
During the journey, passengers can make use of the entertainment, dining and shopping facilities onboard the Pont Aven, or keep an eye out for the whales and dolphins that can sometimes be spotted in the Bay of Biscay.
It was recently revealed that
Brittany Ferries is making a takeover bid for Seafrance, meaning it could extend its competition with P&O Ferries to the busy Dover to Calais ferry route.
