Smartphone users planning to take
ferries to France for a holiday this year will be able to make use of some new tools that have been launched by the country's tourist office.
A total of 38 applications have been made available for download, with more set to be added in future as part of an initiative to make the holiday experience more convenient and enjoyable for travellers.
People planning to visit France this year can reach the country quickly and easily by taking
ferries from Dover to Calais with
P&O Ferries or
Seafrance.
The new smartphone apps have been divided into eight different sections, including accommodation, food and wine, transport, weather and maps.
There is also a destinations category that includes information on Languedoc-Roussillon, Vienne and other locations, as well as a collection of guides provided by publishers including Lonely Planet.
Other travel options for holidaymakers planning a break in France this summer include
LD Lines'
ferries from Portsmouth to Le Havre, while
Brittany Ferries operates crossings from Portsmouth to Caen, Cherbourg and St Malo.
