Newhaven terminal face lift
Ms Villiers, Shadow Secretary of State for Transport, visited Newhaven Port earlier this February to see for herself LD Lines progress. LD Lines, recently, has been developing passenger and freight services and achieved remarcable results. Theresa Villiers was impressed with the marvelous fleet (The Seven Sisters and Cote d'Albatre) and with the new Haven Cafe' that will open in March in the terminal.
These changes will allow LD LInes to increase ferry services: four departures a day from the 1st of May during peak period; three a day to Dieppe; a new route linking Newhaven with Le Havre.
These services offer reliability and confort to both tourists and freight companies.
The continuous redevelopment of Newhaven's port will extend further the unaccompanied freight side of operations. Newhaven port will grow to become a leading South port for unaccompanied freight. They are also considering economic and environmental aspects as vehicles don't need to drive the cargo on board.
Ms Villiers was very pleased for the successful centre that Newhaven port is becoming for both passenger and freight travel and gave her full support to these developments.
