Norfolkline Will Continue Rosyth-Zeebrugge Service in Spring 2009
Norfolkline have today announced that they will revive the Rosyth-Zeebrugge route, with a service scheduled to start in Spring, 2009.
Their plan is to run a service with 3 departures from each port every week. It will be a passenger and freight service using a new vessel. Kell Robdrup, Managing Director of Norfolkline, Ferry Division, stated, `We understand the importance of this service to both passengers and freight customers in Scotland and the Continent. With the introduction of a brand new ferry, Norfolkline can provide a comfortable and environmentally friendly crossing.'
The new vessel is under construction in the Visentini Shipyard in Italy. It is a modern vessel with lower fuel consumption and CO2 emission. The vessel will comply fully with the latest requirements of SOLAS (International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea). They believe that this service can provide environmental benefits by diverting traffic from road to sea.
With the new service, Norfolkline are looking to provide their customers with a better network in Scotland and Belgium. While there are still some issues to be resolved within the set timeframe, Norfolkline are confident that it is achievable, given the experience and professionalism of all the internal and external parties involved in this project. Norfolkline hope that passengers, freight customers, and industry in Scotland and the Continent will be supportive and are looking forward to making the service a success.
