Norfolkline ferry features in new TV show | | | | 06 November 2008 | Norfolkline ferry Maersk Dunkerque recently welcomed one of Britain's most popular television stars as it served as a location for the filming of new ITV show Albert's Memorial.
The programme, which will be screened next year, stars David Jason as a character who embarks on a journey to fulfil his recently deceased friend's wish of being buried in Germany, where the men fought together at the end of World War Two.
Jason, who is best known for playing Del Boy in the comedy show Only Fools and Horses, filmed scenes at Dover's eastern docks and also on board Norfolkline's Maersk Dunkerque.
During a break in filming, the 68-year-old star met the ship's captain, Chris Roe, who gave him a tour of the bridge.
The actor said: "Being told by the captain about some of the controls and operations that take place on board from the bridge was fascinating."
Captain Roe commented: "It was a real pleasure to welcome David Jason and the ITV film production units on board the Maersk Dunkerque for filming. Having someone with his television profile on the ship is not something that happens every day."
In addition to its service between Dover and Dunkerque, Norfolkline offers ferry crossings from Rosyth to Zeebrugge and from Liverpool to Belfast and Dublin. |
