Norfolkline has celebrated the maiden voyage of Scottish Viking, the ship that will operate the new Rosyth to Zeebrugge ferry route.
After departing a shipyard in Italy and sailing via Zeebrugge, the vessel made her first journey up the Firth of Forth on May 19th and was welcomed by Scottish first minister Alex Salmond.
Norfolkline has seen high demand for ferries from Rosyth to Zeebrugge since the announcement of the new service was first made last year.
The route represents Scotland's only ferry link to mainland Europe.
Thomas Woldbye, chief executive of Norfolkline, said: "This is an exciting day for Norfolkline and we are proud to be launching this new venture.
"We have created a team here in Scotland which will be working hard to ensure that the long-term future of this route is secure and that this important link to the continent delivers positive results for many years to come."
To start with, travellers will be able to catch three ferries from Rosyth to Zeebrugge every week, with the potential for frequency to be increased if demand is strong enough.
