Norfolkline launched a special sailing this week to mark the completion of its first year of offering ferries from Rosyth to Zeebrugge.
The company celebrated the anniversary by operating a service on May 25th with Captain Antonio Arbilli at the helm.
Captain Arbilli was due to sail on the maiden voyage on Norfolkline's Rosyth to Zeebrugge ferry route 12 months ago but suffered a heart attack shortly before the ship was due to set sail.
Over the past year, the 44-year-old seaman has recovered from his health scare, meaning he was able to captain the anniversary crossing.
He said: "No-one was more disappointed than me that I could not take part in the maiden sailing last year.
"Bringing the ship in today was my moment of glory. You know, this is like a new birthday for me so now I can celebrate twice."
Norfolkline's Rosyth to Zeebrugge service is the only direct ferry link between Scotland and continental Europe.
The company also operates
ferries from Dover to Dunkerque and services to Belfast and Dublin from Liverpool.
