Norfolkline has named John Cassin from Liverpool as its top onboard chef following a competition held at Westminster Catering College in London.
The Chef of the Year competition brought together five of the top cooks from
Norfolkline's onboard kitchens to devise and prepare a menu to be sampled by judges.
Following a final cook-off, the top award went to Mr Cassin of
Norfolkline Irish Sea, which offers ferries to Dublin and Belfast from Liverpool.
The winning menu consisted of smoked salmon to start, lamb in Parma ham as the main course and tarte tatin for dessert.
Commenting on his win, Mr Cassin said: "All of the chefs put in a huge amount of effort on the day. I am so proud that the judges chose my dishes as the winning menu.
"Working in the kitchens on the ferries can be challenging at times but with a great team, great menu and great customers it's a joy to be a part of the
Norfolkline team."
Norfolkline extended the range of services it offers to passengers this year with the launch of a new Rosyth to Zeebrugge ferry route, which offers access to Europe alongside the company's ferries to Dunkerque from Dover.
