Norfolkline and its customers recently took part in a special fundraising initiative that generated £5,000 for Seafarers UK, the leading charity for the UK's maritime community.
The Saga Moon vessel recently left the Norfolkline fleet after many years, leading the company to launch a competition to raise money for the good cause.
Members of the public were asked to guess how long it would take the ship to sail from Belfast ferry port to its new home in the Gulf of California off the coast of La Paz, Mexico.
Over 600 people entered to be in with a chance of winning a trip for two to the Central American country.
The other prizes included a return crossing on
Norfolkline Irish Sea's Belfast to Liverpool ferry route and two tickets to see a Liverpool football match at Anfield.
Estimates ranged from 17 to 64 days, with 92 people offering a guess fairly close to the actual duration of 21 days, ten hours and 24 minutes.
Vincent Hughes from Belfast won the first prize and Kirstie Dewhurst from Heysham was the runner-up.
People planning to visit Europe this year can take
ferries from Dover to Dunkerque with Norfolkline or travel on the company's Rosyth to Zeebrugge ferry route.
