Norfolkline wins 'best ferry company' award | | | | 20 October 2008 | Norfolkline has been named the year's best ferry company at the 2008 Observer Travel Awards.
The company, which offers ferry crossings from Dover to Dunkerque and from Liverpool to Belfast and Dublin, picked up the award ahead of last year's winner, Speed Ferries.
This year's awards were handed out on the basis of more than 17,000 questionnaires completed by Guardian and Observer readers.
Kell Robdrup, managing director of Norfolkline's ferry division, said: "I am very pleased to learn that Norfolkline has received this prestigious award this year.
"This is the fruit of the continuous effort of our dedicated teams in the English Channel and Irish Sea. Norfolkline has always been a committed ferry operator and we will stay customer-focused in order to deliver quality service to our customers."
Commenting on the ferry company award, the Observer suggested that problems in the aviation industry could be prompting a rise in interest in ferry travel, with figures for the year to February showing a three per cent rise in passenger numbers from the UK to the continent.
Norfolkline is set to see a boost in custom next year when it launches a new service between Rosyth in Scotland and Zeebrugge in Belgium. |
