People taking
Poole to Guernsey ferries will soon be able to purchase 'Ormer cards' for bus travel once they alight at their destination.
The island is replacing its existing ticketing machines with new facilities that have been inspired by the local delicacy Ormer.
Coming into effect on Saturday February 27th, the new cards will be offered at a discounted rate of £3 for ten journeys as long as stocks last.
In addition, Guernsey authorities are permitting free bus travel for the first week of the new cards so that the changeover is as easy as possible.
Peter Sirrett, environment minister for the island, said: "This change
has many benefits for the future in terms of the additional information which we will be able to gather on the use of our buses and help us to produce a better bus service for the future."
The Ormer cards have gone on sale as of today (February 16th).
