People who admit to a weakness for chocolate should pay a visit to Belgium to savour the treat that has become one of the country's most famous exports, according to P&O Ferries.
Belgian chocolate first became popular in the 18th and 19th centuries and is now enjoyed all over the world.
People who would like to sample the delicacy in its country of origin can catch ferries to Zeebrugge from Hull with P&O Ferries.
Writing in a blog for the operator, Rosie Khdir identifies some of the best chocolate shops in Belgium, starting with Burie in Antwerp, which is famous for its window displays.
Travellers catching ferries to Zeebrugge can head into Bruges to visit The Chocolate Line, which is known for infusing chocolate with unusual flavours such as basil, cola and olive oil.
Other famous stores worth visiting include Del Ray, which also sells ice cream and other confectionery, and the Pierre Marcolini shop in Brussels.
Norfolkline also offers ferries to Zeebrugge from Rosyth in Scotland, while
TransEuropa Ferries provides crossings on the Ramsgate to Ostend ferry route.
