P&O Ferries celebrates award win |  | | | 07 October 2008 | P&O Ferries has celebrated being named the best ferry operator in the UK at the 2008 Group Leisure awards.
The awards were handed out at a ceremony at the Hilton Metropole in Birmingham and were based on votes by readers of Group Leisure, the magazine for group travel trade professionals.
P&O Ferries picked up its award for its services to France, Holland, Belgium and Spain.
Mark Atherton, head of tourist sales for the company, said: "We're delighted to win this award as the group market remains very important to us. I would like to thank our customers and staff for their continued support."
P&O Ferries sails from ports all over the UK, including the southern terminals of Portsmouth and Dover to Calais, Le Havre and Cherbourg in northern France.
Other winners in the 2008 Group Leisure Awards included north-east England (best tourist board), Bournemouth (best UK resort) and Barcelona (best international destination). |
