P&O Ferries passengers have been encouraged to add a touch of glamour and some time for relaxation to their ferry crossings by travelling in one of the operator's club lounges.
Writing in his blog for P&O Ferries, John Hillman said that the lounges are a throwback to a time when going on holiday was a glamorous and exciting experience.
Club lounge passengers can enjoy panoramic views from their location at the top of the ship while sipping champagne and tucking into some smoked salmon or other snacks.
Mr Hillman said that, for people catching ferries from Dover to Calais and back within a short space of time, the chance to relax and enjoy some peace and quiet "starts to feel like more of a necessity than anything else".
In another recent blog for P&O Ferries, Mr Hillman waxed lyrical over New Year's Eve parties in Amsterdam, saying that "there are few spectacles in life as exhilarating" as exploring the city's streets on the last night of the year.
Visitors looking to join in with the open-air celebrations in Amsterdam on New Year's Eve should head to Rembrandtplein, Leidseplein, Dam Square or Nieuwmarkt.
