P&O Ferries recommends Spanish cycling holiday

P&O Ferries recommends Spanish cycling holiday
Holidaymakers looking for a fun but affordable getaway this year should consider setting off on a ferry crossing to northern Spain for a cycling trip, according to P&O Ferries.

The ferry operator recommends this part of the country as "ideal for cycling holidays", with landscapes ranging from snow-capped mountains and foothills to sandy beaches.

Writing in his latest P&O Ferries blog, John Hillman describes northern Spain as "more civilised and respectable" than the tourist-oriented Costa del Sol and Costa Blanca in the south.

As well as taking in the stunning scenery, holidaymakers in northern Spain can visit destinations such as San Vincente de la Barquera and Santillana del Mar, which are known for their cuisine and medieval charm.

P&O Ferries provides ferry crossings from Portsmouth to Bilbao on the north coast of Spain, a city that boasts attractions including the Guggenheim Museum.

An alternative option is the Brittany Ferries route from Plymouth to Santander, which is served by up to two ferry crossings per week.
