P&O Ferries recommends a trip to Nausicaa | | | | 19 November 2009 | People who have an interest in marine creatures have been encouraged by P&O Ferries to visit Nausicaa National Sea Centre in Boulogne.
In her blog for the ferry operator, Rosie Khdir writes that Boulogne's title of 'city of the sea' is well deserved considering its "busy ports, beautiful beaches and a sea life centre housing over 32,000 living creatures".
P&O Ferries operates crossings on the Dover to Calais ferry route that provide easy access to the destination.
Nausicaa is divided up into different sections that explore themes including the wealth of wildlife found in the sea, whale migrations and the importance of sharks in the ocean environment.
Ms Khdir also recommends a visit to the centre's exhibition on Madagascar, where visitors can learn about the island's mangrove swamps and the communities that live there.
Travellers have the option of taking ferries to Boulogne with LD Lines, which also operates a Portsmouth to Le Havre ferry service.
People interested in visiting Belgium or Holland can take ferries to Zeebrugge or Rotterdam from Hull with P&O Ferries.
