People hoping to take a relaxing break abroad this year will find what they are looking for in the town of Spa in Belgium, according to
P&O Ferries.
Writing in her blog for the company, Rosie Khdir said that the town "may be small, but it is steeped in history from back to when the Romans ruled Europe right up to the First World War".
Travellers interested in seeing what Spa has to offer can take ferries from Hull to Zeebrugge with
P&O Ferries and follow a route south-east towards Belgium's border with Germany.
Upon arrival, visitors can explore the local street markets, churches and the Leopold II Gallery, which Ms Khdir described as "beautiful".
Holidaymakers can also head to the thermal spa that gives the town its name.
Sports fans will be interested in some of the events set to take place in Spa this year, with a stage of the Tour de France set to finish in the town on July 5th and a Formula 1 grand prix scheduled for August 29th.
Travellers can take ferries from Rosyth to Zeebrugge with
Norfolkline, while
LD Lines and
TransEuropa Ferries provide access to Belgium via the Ramsgate to Ostend ferry route.
