P&O Ferries wins British Travel Awards |  | | | 07 November 2008 | The 2008 British Travel Awards were handed out this week at a ceremony which saw P&O Ferries named the ferry company of the year and the best cross-Channel operator.
Tens of thousands of industry professionals, consumers and travel agents were involved in the voting process for this year's awards, airing their views on the world's best travel companies, destinations and experiences.
The 'ferry company of the year' accolade was won by P&O Ferries ahead of another operator that provides cross-Channel services, Brittany Ferries, which picked up the silver award.
P&O Ferries is the largest ferry operator in the UK with ten routes and 25 vessels.
The company recently announced that it is building two environmentally friendly vessels that will be among the largest ships ever to serve the Dover to Calais ferry route.
