Travellers looking for an enjoyable and relaxing break this year have been encouraged by the Passenger Shipping Association (PSA) to "take a ferry for some festival fun".
The organisation said that "every kind of festival imaginable" will be taking place across Europe over the coming weeks and months, all of which will be easily accessible by ferry.
Several events will be held in France this summer, including the Interceltique Festival, a ten-day cultural celebration taking place in Lorient from July 31st to August 9th, and the Sand Sculptures exhibition in Le Touquet, which will be open until the end of August.
Travellers can reach Lorient in north-west France by catching
ferries from Plymouth to Roscoff with
Brittany Ferries, while those heading to Le Touquet can use
Dover to Calais ferry services provided by P&O Ferries and
Seafrance.
The PSA also recommended catching ferries to Dublin or Rosslare with
Irish Ferries to visit the Puck Fair in Killorglin, a street entertainment festival that will be held from August 10th to 12th.
Other options include visiting Belfast for the Tall Ships Atlantic Challenge from August 13th to 16th or catching ferries to Bilbao to experience the Aste Nagusia festival between August 16th and 24th.
